Job Description

The Executive Director (ED) is the chief executive leader within Araminta and is primarily responsible for advancing the organization’s mission. Reporting to a Board of Directors, the ED has operational responsibility for Araminta’s staff, programs, services expansion, and
execution of its mission. The ED should have a deep knowledge base of the anti-human trafficking field, core programs, operations, grant submissions, report requirements, and the partnering communities.

The ideal candidate is a transformational leader who brings a strong commitment to and belief in our vision “A society in which every person is free from the threat and trauma of child sex trafficking.” and has proven experience managing complex nonprofit organizations.

This is a full-time in-person position.

Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership & Management

  • Lead the development and implementation of a multi-year strategic plan in partnership with the Board of Directors.
  • Provide timely and accurate information to the Board of Directors regarding organizational challenges, opportunities, financial issues or any risks that may affect the reputation of Araminta.
  • Ensure Araminta’s programs are aligned with its overall mission, vision, values in support of the individuals or other communities requesting assistance.
  • Develop and report on key performance indicators demonstrating mission to volunteers, board members, committees, partnering organizations and donors.
  • Ensure ongoing programmatic excellence, nonprofit best practices, with a rigorous programmatic evaluation.
  • Actively engage Araminta volunteers, board members, committees, partnering organizations, and donors.
  • Lead, coach, develop, and retain Araminta’s high-performance team.
  • Maintain an atmosphere of respect, faith, accountability, and excellence.

Programmatic Management
Fundraising

  • Oversee fundraising activities to support existing programmatic operations or enhancement services.
  • Collaborate with the Board of Directors and Senior Staff to align the overall fundraising strategy with the annual budgeted income.
  • In collaboration with Senior Staff, apply for applicable public and private grant opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain all donor relationships.
  • Supervise staff implementation of fundraising communications and events.

Financial Management

  • Assure overall financial alignment with the strategic plan and programmatic needs of the organization.
  • Monitor financial reporting and regulatory adherence.
  • Ensure full grant compliance and effective grant management, including tracking deliverables, preparing and submitting required reports, while maintaining alignment with funding guidelines.
  • Develop annual budget in collaboration with the Board of Directors.

Strategic Planning

  • Guide the strategic planning process for support programs or organizational expansion.
  • Ensure adherence to the vision, mission, and values through strategic planning and implementation.
  • On-going oversight of staff leadership’s implementation of the strategic plan.

Networking

  • Build and maintain partnerships with federal, state and local agencies, local non- profits, task forces, coalitions, churches, and businesses to expand Araminta’s programmatic reach.
  • Represent the organization at conferences, churches and public speaking events.
  • Use relationships to garner new funding and programmatic opportunities.

Qualifications

  • The ED will serve as Araminta’s leader to the overall mission and will have proven leadership, coaching, and relationship management experience.
  • Advanced degree required, ideally an MSW or MBA with 5 years of experience in leadership.
  • Experience in the human trafficking environment, social service, child welfare / public or private agencies.
  • Unwavering commitment to quality programs, with a survivor centered and trauma-informed approach.
  • Excellence in organizational management with the ability to coach staff, manage, and develop high-performance teams, set and achieve strategic objectives, and oversee financial management.
  • Strong marketing, public relations, and fundraising experience with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders and cultures.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills.
  • Action-oriented, entrepreneurial, adaptable, and innovative approach to business planning.
  • Collaborate effectively with people and organizations of diverse cultures and faiths.
  • Passion, idealism, integrity, positive attitude, mission-driven, and self-directed.
  • Demonstrate a mature faith in Christ by signing our organizational statement of faith.
  • Works from a posture of strength and fairness to effectively manage conflicts.
  • Skilled mediator with community partners, staff members, volunteers and survivors.

Compensation

  • Salary Range: $100,000 – $125,000 commensurate with experience.
  • Araminta offers a comprehensive benefit package that includes employer paid medical coverage.
  • 20 days of paid time off (PTO) per year, to be accrued with each pay period as personal, sick and/or vacation time.
  • 10 paid holidays. 

Company Description

Araminta Freedom Initiative (AFI) is a faith-based nonprofit organization dedicated to combatting the sexual exploitation of children and restoring hope and healing to survivors of trafficking in Maryland. Through prevention, education, and restorative services, AFI seeks to reduce the threat and trauma of trafficking – especially among vulnerable youth – while offering survivors trauma-informed, evidence-based care aimed at rebuilding mind, body, and spirit. As a member of the state’s human trafficking task force, and with a robust volunteer community, AFI partners with churches, schools, social-service agencies, and community stakeholders to deliver awareness, prevention, rescue referral, and long-term support services for survivors.
