Why I Volunteer: I connect to the Vision and Mission of Araminta. Although I have not had a personal encounter, I care deeply for those who are victims and those who are marginalized for any reason. I have chosen to devote my time and energy because a very dear extended family member was trafficked. I want to join in the cause to help break this cycle of abuse and help end this social injustice that negatively impacts lives.
Special Talent: entertaining. I love a good gathering of family and friends mixed with strangers in my garden. I love setting a romantic, family fun or sports table-scape and mingling with the crowd as we enjoy each others company. We have formed some of the most exciting “extended family” circles.
Thank you, Sharon, for your service!

Why I Volunteer: Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ – Matthew 22:37-39

Why I Volunteer: Slavery is still alive in the United States. It is the utmost form of bullying and complete disregard for human life. It must be stopped; victims should be supported to heal and perpetrators must be brought to justice.
Favorite Comfort Food: Pasta – I grew up in an Italian family and know how to make egg noodles by hand. There’s nothing like making pasta from fresh eggs from a neighbor’s coop, with a savory sauce you made from tomatoes in your own garden. Life doesn’t get much better than that.
Thank you, Joseph, for your service!

Why I Volunteer: Volunteering gives me a sense of purpose. Araminta allows me to be a part of a community that’s dedicated to helping people who are trying to overcome serious life traumas and reclaim their lives. My church has helped me through some of my own personal struggles and I discovered Araminta through them. Volunteering gives me a sense of purpose. And can help counteract the effects of stress, depression and anxiety. I’m thankful for the training and opportunities to build on my own confidence and social skills.
Fun Fact About Me: Initially, I went to school for game art and design with a background in fine arts and went into studying anatomy and fitness working as a physical therapist assistant and just started instructing group exercise classes.
Thank you, Josh, for your service!

Why I Volunteer: I grew up in India and knew about human trafficking cases in developing countries but did not realize the issues in Western countries. One student and an author of the book “In my Backyard”, Nita Belles gave a presentation about Human Trafficking in the U.S. about ten years ago. I was very shocked to hear about it. Through my church website I found information about the Araminta organization and started volunteering as an advocate. I enjoy working with Araminta staff.
Special Talent: I love to do quilting.
Thank you, Vinita, for your service!

Why I Volunteer: After I became aware of the extent of child sex trafficking throughout the world, I was looking for a way to be involved in protecting children. Learning about Araminta’s mission during a DAR meeting felt like a good fit in which I could have a local impact. I have found volunteering with Araminta has given me the opportunity to educate others about this issue and support survivors.
